Vivien & Alan’s Wedding Portfolio

Location : Artington House, Guildford

A small and intimate wedding

Vivien and Alan’s story had begun many years ago, and with their three boys now teenagers and young men it was time for them to have their special day.  They were to enjoy a small, intimate wedding day with just the two of them with their three boys making up the wedding party.

Artington House, Guildford was their chosen wedding venue.

Their wedding collection; Vivien & Alan’s chose bespoke wedding photography coverage of a few hours, to include the wedding ceremony at Artington House, and then family and wedding portraits afterwards.   At their viewing session, Vivien & Alan also chose to invest in fine art prints as gifts for family together with an heirloom quality wedding album for themselves.

Their brief;  The couple wanted wedding day photographs of themselves but also wedding photos that captured them as a family, so the photographs afterwards would aim to do that.  Additionally, (and as you can see from the photos below), Vivien loves black and white photographs and so these feature heavily in their finished collection.

As part of the wedding photography planning, we always visit a Church, Registry Office or Wedding Venue prior to our couples Wedding Day.  We visited Artington House, Guildford a few days prior to the wedding.

The garden outside the venue is quaint and pretty, and served to create some lovely photographs immediately after the ceremony.  Vivien had also visited, and felt the garden was not quite as large as she had imagined for her wedding photos.  Vivien remembered a park being not too far away, and we wondered if this might be a good location to investigate.

Using Google Maps and the amazing function of being able to walk the paths, I could have a good look around, and much to our delight came upon the path to the River Wey.  This revealed a picturesque river path, together with a bridge across the river, which was to become the centre-piece for some of their favourite wedding photographs.  Using other great tools such as The Photographers Ephemeris we could also check for where the sun would be around the time of the Wedding Portraits.

We had advised Vivien she might want to bring some comfy shoes for walking across the field… Vivien chose her new pink trainers for this and left her bridal sandals in the car!

A real family focused wedding and after the wedding photos were complete they headed off to Pizza Express to celebrate.
